Project

The Challenge:

Update a 1992 master bath with carpeting, eight foot mirrored closet doors, a hazardous step at the tub deck protruded into the space, a square whirlpool tub, a minimum sized shower, no place for towel bars, limited storage with almost no drawers.  Beige tile on all the hard surfaces, can lights and outdated track lighting gave very poor light and a plain full width mirror completed the blandness.

The Solution:

By removing the step and replacing the whirlpool tub with a relaxing oval heated air tub, the shower was enlarged and a seat and recessed shampoo box were added.  The deck was extended to the vanity cabinetry, actually making the deck larger.  The tub deck, shower walls and vanity counter were finished with travertine slab top minimize grout lines and 2x2 glass tiles were used for backsplash on the vanity and tub deck, and for accents in the shower wall.

A shower unit with full body spray, hand held sp-ray and rain shower create the ultimate showering experience.  A frameless clear glass enclosure makes the shower and the entire space seem larger.

The vanity area was reconfigured including an above counter tower with storage and two stacks of drawers create his and her spaces.  The Palomino Dry Brushed Glaze gives the maple cabinetry a rich luxurious finish.

Sconce lighting flanking each framed, beveled mirror and 4” LV can accent lights over each lavatory improved the lighting.  Dimmable low-voltage accent lights over the tub deck replaced the track lights giving the area an intimate feel.  Limestone was used on the floor in an 18x18 diagonal pattern.  The closet opening was downsized and double 48” French doors with full length mirrors on the closet side allowed for more wall space and more storage features in the closet.
